VC Investor: Y Combinator
Y Combinator (YC) is a world-renowned startup accelerator based in Silicon Valley. It helps early-stage startups by providing seed funding, mentorship, office space, and access to a network of successful entrepreneurs and investors. Some of the most well-known companies launched through YC include: Airbnb, Coinbase, Cruise, DoorDash, Dropbox, Instacart, Reddit, Stripe, and Twitch.
YC runs a three-month accelerator program twice a year. Startups accepted into the program receive $150,000 in convertible notes in exchange for 7% equity. They also spend three months working in YC's headquarters, where they receive intensive mentorship from YC partners and alumni. At the end of the program, YC helps startups raise money from outside investors during Demo Day, a pitching event attended by leading venture capitalists.
